FLORENCE—Keiter Corporation, a construction services firm located in Florence since 2008, recently announced it will relocate its executive headquarters to a 6,000-square-foot facility at 1 Interstate Drive in West Springfield later this year.

Keiter is comprised of Keiter Builders, the commercial / institutional division; Keiter Homes, the residential arm; and Keiter Properties, the real estate venture. Its pre-construction, sales and marketing, finance and administration, and operations departments will be located in the new space.

The move is prompted by growth and will allow Keiter much-needed space to collaborate with customers and partners on projects.

“We have purposely grown our company over the past few years to better serve the needs of our customers and the broader community,” said CEO Scott Keiter. “Keiter needs to continue growing in other ways so we can continue to meet the needs of our customers, employees, partners and communities.”

The new location will also help Keiter better serve clients in Hampden and Berkshire counties while continuing to serve clients in Hampshire and Franklin counties.

Initiative could inject roughly $60,000 into the local economy

FLORENCE— Keiter Corporation will donate $25,000 to the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce for a promotion that will allow consumers to purchase a $25 Northampton Gift Card and receive $50 in actual spending power.

This is the third consecutive year Keiter has launched the initiative, donating $10,000 in 2021 and doubling the investment in 2022. A $5,000 gift from the chamber’s Neighborhood Revitalization Fund will be added to Keiter’s contribution to continue stimulating the local economy beyond the pandemic.

The 2023 gift card promotion, “Building Our Community Together,” launches on Wednesday, Aug. 9 and runs while supplies last. The $25 Keiter Gift Cards will be sold exclusively at the chamber office at 99 Pleasant St., Northampton, during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Consumers must mention that they want a Keiter Gift Card, and the promotion applies only to $25 Northampton Gift Card purchases. (A $50 gift card would not be valued at $100, for instance.) There is a limit of one card per customer, per transaction. 

Last year’s “Strengthen the Community” promotion was a huge success. In three days, the cards sold out, and the program infused $50,000 into the local economy — a welcome boost to area businesses. Inspired by the community’s enthusiasm and participation, Keiter plans to build on the momentum.

Leaders of Hatfield Construction, Inc. now seek to expand and partner with area construction professionals

FLORENCE— Keiter Corporation has formally spun-off its excavation and site work division, Hatfield Construction Inc., into a wholly owned subsidiary in a move that President Scott Keiter said poises the new organization for growth. Historically, the division served only Keiter clients, but it will now scale up to serve many other clients in the industry.

Key leaders in the firm will be Bill Moynihan, director of operations, in charge of project management and field operations, and Dylan Courtney, director of pre-construction, who will oversee project development, estimating and sales. 

“The businesses are run differently from one another, have different needs, and now have entirely separate management teams,” Keiter said. “We’re now able to position ourselves for continued growth, and we are excited about the opportunity for Hatfield Construction to develop new relationships with other contractors and builders in the region and partner with them on their construction projects.”

Hatfield Construction offers services including trucking and hauling, excavation, demolition, sewer and water, septic systems, land clearing, storm water systems and trenching for underground utilities. Keiter said the business also works closely with solar companies, assisting them with trenching and ground mount systems. 

Hatfield Construction has approximately 20 employees in roles ranging from equipment operator and laborer to site foremen and management.

Courtney said, “Hatfield Construction ensures the same core values and quality of service as its parent company.”

Keiter added, “We bring a high level of professionalism to the table. We have a deep reservoir of talent on staff, and we’re always up for the challenge of complex projects.”

Moynihan has been with Keiter for eight years. He holds an associate degree in architecture from Springfield Technical Community College and a bachelor’s in building construction technology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Hired last fall, Courtney holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Nichols College and an MBA from Washington State University. He is also certified in construction project management by Worcester Polytechnic Institute. 

Hatfield Construction offers a broad scope of services. Current projects include the development of an outdoor exercise “airnaseum,” or open-air gymnasium, at the Hampshire Regional YMCA; infrastructure upgrades to the Parsons House at Smith College, including a new elevator shaft; and excavation, storm water systems and other site work on Belchertown property being developed by the Cutchins Programs for Children & Families.
